Eric Siblin was a pop-music critic when he became obsessed with Bach's cello suites and Pablo Casals, who discovered the music in a second-hand shop and became its champion. Winner of many awards, The Cello Suites interweaves the story of the writing and playing of the suites with Siblin's awakened passion for the music.
As a CBC broadcaster, Eric Friesen interviewed such musical figures as Yo-Yo Ma, Lyle Lovett, k. d. lang, and the Marsalis brothers. He conducted onstage interviews at Umbria's Trasimeno Music Festival with Vikram Seth and Ian McEwen and recently completed six podcast documentaries for 130 Johnson Street
