WritersFest Update: All in the family






 All in the family
Meet husbands and wives who get along, parents who travel with children, a man who leaves home, then returns, and a testy teenager who can't wait to get out the door.
Boomerangs and books that tell-all
Iain ReidIn his humourous debut, One Bird's Choice, twentysomething Iain Reid leaves home and then, surprisingly returns. In Cordelia Strube's Lemon, an acid-tongued teenager has every reason to flee the nest. Meet Iain and Cordelia on Thursday morning and, learn how to get inside the teenager at Cordelia's Writers Studio master class on Thursday afternoon.

Who's afraid of travelling with family?

Marie-Louise GayChildren's author/illustrator Marie-Louise Gay and novelist husband David Homel share road-trip stories of a family with two sons and a cat named Miro. (For kids of all ages.)

Meanwhile, writing couple Merilyn Simonds and Wayne Grady launch their road-trip memoir Breakfast at the Exit Café: Travels in America, a look at our southern neighbour from the outside and a marriage from the inside. Catch both couples in a festival double-header, when they meet to discuss the perils and pleasures of cohabiting with a coauthor.
